Looking for a puppy...

The following criterias are standing for a responsible breeding that usually spawns healthy and typical pedigree dogs:

1. Affiliation to a FCI associated club

  • We are breeding within the Siberian Husky Club of Germany (www.huskyclub.de) and its breeding rules. Only FCI pedigrees are a guarantee for participation in purebred Siberian Husky races.
  • The breedings are based on the “Zuchtzulassungsordnung” (breeding permissions) and “Zuchtordnung” (breeding rules)

2. Breeding permissions

  • HD- test: Only dogs with HD A and HD B can be used for breeding without restrictions. Dogs with the result HD C can only be bred to dogs with HD A and HD B.
  • Eye test: The test for heritable eye deseases including a gonioscopy have to be done by a DOK ophthalmologist (Dortmunder Kreis). Deseased Dogs are excluded of the breeding program resp. are only restricted allowed for breeding with.
  • Show result: Every dog for breeding have to be judged by a proofed VDH person. The result depends on the standard and the behaviour of the dog.
  • Working certificate: The Siberian Husky Club of Germany is the only club worldwide that has an obligatory test for the working abilities of a sleddog: minimum 100 km documented work on snow (races or organized tours). Dogs that showed special efforts can reach a specific certificate.
  • --> All these things are only formal aspects for dogs to fulfill the breeding permission. The breeder himself is the only one that is responsible according to choose the partners and breedings.

3. The breeding kennel

  • The breeding kennel has to be controlled by a supervisor of the Siberian Husky Club of Germany. He checks the accomodation of the dogs (Mindesthaltungsordnung des SHC) and gives hints about kynological processes.
  • Not only the whelp boxes are in the center of attraction but also the kennels of the other dogs.
  • A prospective puppy buyer should be aware of the fact that the puppies live near the house because of a good socialisation.

4. The control of the litter

  • Between the 8th and 12th week the supervisor usually controls the litter.
  • The supervisor has a look on the breeding conditions and the exterior appearence of the puppies.
  • The breeder has to show the weighting table and to prove minimum three worm treatments. It is proposed to treat the puppies and the mother all two weeks with minimum two different compounds.
  • After that the puppies were checked seperately. The supervisor is interested in: existence of a microchip number, adequate vaccinations, behaviour, teeth, eyes, ears, coat, males: testicles.
  • Also the mother of the litter is to rate according to her behaviour. Her chip and pedigree are controlled. In the case that the father is on-site his chip has to been tested, too.
  • Within the framework the accomodation of the other dogs is checked and the current number of dogs is captured.
  • --> You should ask for the records of this litter control. So you can get many information about the litter. A good breeder has nothing to hide!
